Rethinking Good As I Been To You (Updated Covers Playlist)
Two weeks ago we shared a playlist of covers of the Good As I Been To You released after Dylan’s 1993 album. To go with our new Dylan.FM Podcast episode, we’ve updated and expanded the playlist to include the originals that inspired Dylan, cool versions chosen by Ray Padgett, plus the newer versions.
When Good As I Been To You came out in ‘92, few people took much notice. By now most of us have learned that few things Dylan does don’t deserve more attention than they originally receive. Going back and listening again, digging deeper, and re-evaluating has been paying off big - for years now.
On Good As I Been To You. Dylan’s doing a bunch of old folk songs; well mostly old and mostly folk. Nothing flashy, but everything solid as hell - the songs, the singing, and the solo acoustic guitar. But it doesn’t feel like there is that much to grab onto.
